Emirates International School-Jumeirah stands out from its competitors, now offering ALL International Baccalaureate programmes

01-JUL-2014

EIS-Jumeirah is one of only seven schools internationally to offer all four IB programmes

Emirates International School-Jumeirah has been certified to offer all four IB programmes, making it one of only seven schools worldwide to offer such a diverse range of educational programmes. It is now fully authorized to offer all International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes – the IBPYP, IBMYP, IBDP and IBCC.

Emirates International School Jumeriah, which became in IB World School in 1992, and was the first school in Dubai authorised to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, now offers the following.

1992:  International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme – ages 16-18
2013:  IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) – ages 3-11
2014:  IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) – ages 11-16
2014:  IB Career-Related Certificates (IBCC) – ages 16-18

By offering all IB programmes, EIS-J is able to give students a seamless continuity of education, throughout their school life. Beginning with an innovative inquiry-based Primary Years Programme (PYP), students move on to the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and then into the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) or the IB Career-related Certificate (IBCC) at age 16. The IB Career-related Certificate (IBCC) is available as an alternative to the IB Diploma for students who wish to follow a more career-related education.
David Hicks, School Principal said, “We are now officially recognized by the IBO to offer all four programmes at our Jumeirah campus. This is a great achievement, and truly unique.”

He added, “We now join reputable schools such as the International School of Geneva, Berlin Brandenburg International School, Dwight School in the US, and ACS Egham in the UK. We are really proud of this achievement, it gives the students the opportunity to choice the direction that best suits them.”
The IBCC incorporates the educational vision and learner profile of the IB into a unique offering that specifically addresses the needs of students who wish to engage in career-related education. The IBCC encourages these students to benefit from elements of an IB education, through a selection of two or more Diploma Programme courses in addition to a unique IBCC core, comprised of an approaches to learning (ATL) course, a reflective project, language development and community and service.

EIS, which provides education for children from Kindergarten through Grade 13, is a member of the Middle East International Baccalaureate Association (MEIBA), the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) organization and the Near East and South Asia Council of Overseas Schools (NESA).

EIS-Jumeirah was established in Dubai of the United Arab Emirates in 1991 as a community service of the Al Habtoor Group (www.habtoor.com). The school has a current enrollment of 1,900 students from over 80 countries.
