The Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation (KAHF), which was launched in 2013, re-opened the recently extended Al Shura Mosque in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on April 21, 2014. The mosque is now capable of accommodating up to 1500 worshippers in a space amounting to 2100 square meters. The official opening ceremony was attended by HE Dr. Hale Abd El Hafeez Daoud, Minister of Religious Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Jordan; HE Ahmad Salem El-Tayeb, Deputy Chief of Mission at the UAE embassy in Jordan; Mohammad Abdallah Al Haj Zarouni, member of the KAH Foundation Board of Trustees; Abdul Salam Mahmoud Al Marzooqi, Secretary General and Director of KAH Foundation; HE MP Yahya Mohammad Said, member of the Jordanian Parliament, and the mayor of Oum Nwar neighborhood – as well as number of citizens of Jordan and worshippers.
Dr. Hale Abd El Hafeez said, "We ask God to reward the builder of this mosque and all the benefactors, and accept their dignified work." He stressed the importance of building mosques and their importance in upholding the values and principles of Islam. He also commended the pioneering role of KAH Foundation in the Arab region and the world.
Abdul Salam Al Marzooqi said, "The Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation has taken it upon itself to do charitable works inside and outside the UAE, thus achieving a quantum leap in charity work in several areas including the building of mosques, in line with the Hadith: 'Whoever builds a mosque, desiring thereby Allah's pleasure, Allah builds for him the like of it in paradise.'"
He added, "The Al Shura Mosque was opened in 2000 with a capacity to accommodate 800 worshippers in a space amounting to 1360 square meters. This year it was expanded a further 850 square meters. The architectural and engineering design of the mosque is in harmony with the surrounding environment and respects the Jordanian Arab culture."
During the event, trophies were exchanged between the KAH Foundation, the Jordanian Ministry of Religious Endowments and Islamic Affairs and the UAE Embassy in Jordan. Each attendee was given a copy of the Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Quran.
