The Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation Distributes Ramadan Food Parcels

09-JUN-2014

The Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation (KAHF) has launched a campaign to distribute food parcels to needy families and registered individuals who are eligible for assistance. One thousand families from across UAE will receive assistance this year through the project, which is part of the Foundation’s Ramadan Campaign for 2014.

Sultan Al Habtoor, Chairman of KAHF Board of Trustees, said that the Foundation is distributing food coupons to eligible families based on the number of people in the family. The purchasing coupons allow the beneficiaries to buy food to meet their needs.

Abdul Salam Al Marzooqi, KAHF Secretary General, said that in addition to the food parcels, the Foundation’s 2014 Ramadan campaign included the Iftar project, one of the most important projects conducted by the Foundation over Ramadan. A Ramadan tent will also be set up at the Al Farooq Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque and Centre in UAE, where more than 30,000 meals will be served. Similar tents will be set up outside the UAE, including at the Al Shura Mosque in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, as well as others in Lebanon and Albania.

He added that the campaign included the provision of 2,000 medicine packages and hygiene kits, as well as 2,500 food rations for Syrian refugees in Lebanon. The Foundation also plans to allocate 500 food rations to be distributed via the Palestinian embassy in Lebanon, in addition to 1,000 food rations for unprivileged Lebanese families.

Sultan Al Habtoor emphasised the Foundation's commitment towards the community and said the annual Ramadan campaign is designed to support and assist impoverished families
