Khalaf Al Habtoor honoured in Cairo

Mr. Khalaf Al Habtoor, Chairman of Al Habtoor Group of Companies Al Habtoor Group, has been honoured by the American University in Cairo as an ‘extraordinary individual’, in appreciation of the significant differences he has made to the prestigious educational institution.

AUC President David D. Arnold accompanied by Vice Chairman Moataz Al Alfi, presented a token of appreciation to Mr. Khalaf Al Habtoor, in recognition of his generous donation of five million dollars towards the construction of a new football stadium.

Mr. Al Habtoor stated that Egypt and the United Arab Emirates have a long-standing, fraternal relationship built on mutual respect and support.  In the midst of a number of international dignities and educational experts, he expressed his elation at being part of such a worthwhile cause.

“I am delighted to be able to contribute in my way to Egypt’s own continued strive towards academic excellence.” said Mr. Al Habtoor.

Addressing Mr. Al Habtoor during the formal proceedings, Mr. Al Alfi said “Thanks to your generosity and commitment, AUC has the confidence and support to imagine a future of even greater possibilities and search out new opportunities for continuous improvement. You have helped to make AUC a landmark for education in the region, and the university now sets a new standard for excellence.”

Well known for his support of education, Mr. Al Habtoor has contributed to various areas of educations, such as donating the Simulation Centre for the Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research, assumed the role of Academic Chair for the American Sharjah University and contributed a Leadership Centre to Illinois College, USA.

“I will follow the development of the AUC, from every angle, with great personal interest.  I wish you all continued success and prosperity on your never-ending journey towards excellence.” concluded Mr. Al Habtoor.
