The Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation (KAHF) announced today that it is sponsoring a collective wedding ceremony for 50 Emirati couples in collaboration with Emarat Al Youm newspaper. The KAHF said it would fund the mass wedding ceremony under an initiative called ‘The Wedding of Giving’ in support of UAE President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s announcement that 2017 is The Year of Giving – an initiative supported by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Founder, Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation said, “The Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation pays special attention to initiatives like this which support Emiratis in the United Arab Emirates. This initiative is aimed at promoting marriage and giving young couples the best start in their married life.”

He added, “The seeds of giving and benevolence were sown by the great founders of the UAE, by the late Sheikhs Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum.”

The collective wedding will take place at The Westin Dubai, Al Habtoor City on Tuesday 18 April 2017. The KAHF will give each couple AED 40,000.

The Wedding of Giving, which was launched by Emarat Al Youm to coincide with the Year of Giving, is an embodiment of the continuous support of Emirati nationals. It aims at establishing an effective community partnership between public and private institutions for the benefit of Emiratis.

Abdul Salam Al Marzooqi, General Manager, KAHF said, “In organizing a collective wedding, it helps create a community spirit where young couples take the first and most important step in the process of building a family, the future generation of the country. At the same time, it helps reduce wedding costs for those intending on getting married, who otherwise might be forced to wait until they have the funds.

He added, “Collective weddings have proven successful in the UAE in the past thanks to the cohesion of the community. It is important to uphold cultural values and respect the heritage of the country.”

Other institutions involved in the mass wedding ceremony include Medrar, who will provide a Bisht to each groom; Lumiere will provide a selection of perfumes and cosmetics for each couple; and the Al Foursan Al Mouqabil Al Harbiya band – by prominent Emirati artists Ayda Al Menhali – will perform at the wedding.
