The Al Habtoor Group announced the extension of its sponsorship for the UAE Basketball Association for the upcoming season 2014/2015 at a press conference held at the Al Habtoor Group headquarters on August 5, 2014. The League Championship tournament will continue to be known as the ‘Al Habtoor Basketball League’.
The Group also announced that it will be sponsoring the upcoming International Basketball Federation (FIBA) junior league tournament, U17 World Championship, which will be held this month, August 8-16, 2014 at the Hamdan Sport Compound.
The press conference was attended by Sultan Al Habtoor, President, Al Habtoor Motors, Ismail Abdullah Al Qarqawi, president of the UAE Basketball Association, and Abdullah Al Ansari, General Secretary, UAE Basketball Association. Leading members of the UAE Basketball Association, the Al Habtoor Group and the media were also present.
Sultan Al Habtoor commented, “Our extended sponsorship reinforces the Al Habtoor Group's continuous support for the local community, sporting events and the youth of our country in general”.
Ismail Abdallah Al Qarqawi thanked the Al Habtoor Group Chairman, Khalaf Al Habtoor, for his continuous support for one of the UAE’s most loved sports.
The Group began supporting the national basketball association in 2012, already sponsoring two seasons: 2012-2013 and 2013-2014. The sponsorship will continue to cover of the association's activities, including meetings, competitions and general expenses involved in training the national teams.
